We had such a wonderful time on our Hole in the Wall tour with you!! What a treat getting to sample things we never would have looked for in areas of Honolulu we not have visited before. Unfortunately, we didn't have a chance to check out Cafe 100, but that will be on our list next time we visit. My mother, aunt, and I thoroughly enjoyed your Hole in the Wall food tour of Oahu. We were more than pleased with each of our stops and the foods we tasted were unique and unexpected. My favorite was definitely the garlic chicken at Sugoi, but I also picked up some wonderful cracked seed to bring back with me from Us Is Nuts. In hindsight, my only wish is that I'd paced myself a little better. We had an absolutely marvelous time on both food tours this year. Well worth our time and your efforts. Thank you both. On our way out of town we stopped for some malasadas (sorry if I misspelled that) and to my surprise he did. I bought 1/2 doz to take home. The airport check in process was like walking through a gauntlet...everyone wanted me to leave that little box. They were joking but it was fun to see recognition of a prized item. Not only were we introduced to some new foods, we really enjoyed talking to you and Keira, getting to know the other participants, and learning more about Hawaiian culture through its food. I just wanted to let you know that the tour that I took while I was in Hawaii with you was one of the most, if not the most, memorable thing that I did while I was in Hawaii. The Hole in the Wall Tour was not only fun, but also filling and educational. I think that the Hole in the Wall tour should be one of the first things that people book when they come to Hawaii. My wife and I took the Hole In the Wall tour and had a great time. Matthew and Keira are very personable and fun... and full of neat tidbits of information about Honolulu and food. We learned a lot and had some very tasty morsels. Definitely a nice way to spend an afternoon.

We just returned from Honolulu and a highlight of our trip was the “Hole in the Wall Food Tour.” Matthew and Keira hosted several great hours introducing us to new foods, great preparations and some insights in food culture. It’s a wonderful way to start a Hawaiian vacation as the tour allows you to become familiar with names and tastes of food you might encounter while visiting.

Thanks again for such a wonderful day. We had such a good food adventure, something we could never have done without you. We would have never gone into China Town let alone gone to a place like the Green Door. We loved trying things that we didn't even know what they were. I would like to try to make a couple of foods from that Indian restaurant-----the yogurt dressing and the chicken. Do you have a receipe for the great dishes? I want to thank you again for the most marvelous tour and day. I'm still talking about it to all my friends and can't wait to come back to Hawaii to do another one. I went back to the manapua place the next day for two more manapuas and 6 of the pork steamed dumplings. They were so amazing--I could have eaten a dozen. I told the person who waited on me that I'd been there the day before with you and she also gave me one of the sweet rice cakes. What a delicious treat.

I've been keeping an eye on MPLS "hole in the wall" places that might be included in a tour here. I'm dreaming of being an extension of your tour for MPS but am so busy traveling and enjoying my first year of retirement right now that I can't be tied down just yet.

Hi Matthew and Keira! We just wanted to tell you that we had the BEST time meeting the two of you and going on the Hole-in-the-Wall food tour a couple of weeks ago. It was one of the most fun things we've ever done on a vacation. We enjoyed the eats so much that we had to go back to a few of the places multiple times--we especially loved the manapuas and the malasadas!! We also made it to try the coco puffs before we left--to die for! Thanks so much for the lists of things to do/places to see. We loved Allen Wong's--wow! The 10-mile drive was great and the view from the state park up there was awesome! We got to see where a rainbow ended when we were up there! We really enjoyed going to the Punchbowl cemetary, too. It was a great trip--one of our favorites yet and in no small part to starting it off with your tour. Thanks so much again for everything!

Everybody has to eat, and on vacation it should be as much adventure as necessity. We started our Waikiki visit with the “Hole-in-the-Wall” tour and enjoyed both the unique food and the chance to spend time with our hosts Matthew and Keira who gave us an insider’s view of eating on Oahu. When the tour ended and they dropped us back off at our hotel, we felt like we were saying goodbye to good friends. Isn’t that the ultimate compliment?
